Wait, Did I Make a Wrong Turn?
Nope! I went on an excursion to the coastal British territory of Gibraltar, about two and a half hours south of Seville.
Politically, Gibraltar is British, though geographically it sits right on the southern tip of Spain, and its sovereignty has long been a point of contention.
The Rock of Gibraltar dominates the landscape, and the streets are dotted with charming fish-and-chip shops — though I couldn’t resist a delicious Italian lunch instead.
It had never been on my radar, but being that close, I had to go. I was too curious not to — and I’m so glad I did.
The day was full of little surprises and stunning views.
From Europa Point, I could see Africa across the water —something I never imagined when I chose this trip to Spain!
Such a surreal reminder of how small the world can feel in a single moment.
A fun capstone to an already great trip.
Just like that, it was time to head back to Sevilla for one last evening and a tasty dinner before packing up and heading home — with wonderful memories, gratitude, and a full heart. Exactly what I needed.
